okay, you'd think when i get off work fiddling with flowers all day i wouldn't want to see another rosebud or daisy...but nooooo, i came home and started to piddle in the three flower images right away. go figure.

actually, this one that mostly uses my good old favorite blend modes happened pretty quickly and i decided i liked it enough to keep it.

first, i layered two of the three flower images. orange flower on the bottom, then the daisies. i left the rose alone for the moment.

a linear gradient mask was applied to the daisy layer (the fade was on the right) and blend mode was set to lighten. i then moved back to the orange flower and applied manual color corrections of grey #12 and then various foods/bacon (yumm!).

next back to the daisy layer which looked a bit harsh so i softened it once. images were then rotated 90% to the left and the rose added as a third layer. as the rose was a bit narrower than the other two, the edges were cropped to even the layers.

i tried several blend modes on the rose and didn't much like them, but still liked the shapes that were emerging, so i split the rose image in to rgb channels, picked the blue one as it was the most crisp, deleted the original rose layer and substituted the blue channel. colors of that layer were increased to 16M.

tried blend modes again and decided i liked hard light for this layer. copied the window, merged layers. looked through auto photo correction options and decided on auto saturation only. resized and applied unsharp mask. saved as jpg at a compression of 20.

i then went back to the original psp file, duplicated the rose layer, applied a blend mode of color and reduced the opacity to 70% to achieve the muted almost b&w background. this image was then also resized, given and unsharp mask and saved as jpg at a compression of 20.

i went back and mirrored the muted/second image just for the heck of it so they'd have a better flow on the page...did ya hear that over in design p, liann?? *grin*
