[week 3]

Sorting & Formatting

Yeah, yeah ugly colors, but hey, I'm grabbing images where I can until I get everything reloaded over here...haha

This week we are playing with tables. Dreamweaver has some interesting features to help you along. This page shows a nested table that has been sorted and formatted.   As a note, I found that I had to remove the caption in order for the sort function to work.  Error message stated that a table with a caption could not be sorted.  It did the same with colspan or rowspan applied.  This appears to work in a very plain data only file.  Quite a useful function for maillists or definition lists or such though.

I also noticed that it ignores the first row.  I wanted a heading anyway, so I added a blank row at the top before rerunning the sort function.  Then I could add a colspan and have a sorted table with comments at the top.  That row would have to be *unsplit* for future sorts.

Daily Activities Chart
Eating	This woman is taking a break from her LVS class assignments to eat
Exercising	This woman has decided to spend one hour a day working out to give her energy for the 23 hours per day she spend doing her LVS class assignments
Jumping off a Cliff	This woman has computer problems and will not be able to complete her classes at LVS in a timely manner
Laundry	This woman is washing clothes so she will have something clean to wear while she does her LVS class assignments
Running Late	This woman has not started her Dreamweaver assignment and it is 4:00 PM on Friday
Thinking	This woman is dreaming up ideas for her Dreamweaver pages
Walking Over Hot Coals	This woman is walking over hot coals to please her LVS instructors

Other Table Layouts

Here I fooled around with several layouts.  They each will open is their own window.  Simply close the window to return to this page.

Layout #1:  Attempting a different type of rounded corner table. 

Layout #2 : [2 separate tables]  Playing with alternating colors in cells both with the format command [second table] and by selecting cells separately [first table].  Note that second table also had a couple of rows changed, but it was a fast fix since the basic colors were laid in already.

Layout #3:  Fiddling around with different table layout tricks such as colspan, rowspan & nesting just for the why not of it all.
