Farron when signing up for class: "Gee,
Ron, I really want to learn how to use my camera to get better photographs."
Farron during class: "But, Ronnnnnnnn,
why can't I crop and enhance just a little? This is just too dern
hard!" [insert whine and snivel]
How's that for doing my best to defeat the purpose of the class?
lol Try as I may, I can't seem to get what I consider a decent composition
without cropping and enhancing. It's almost embarrassing to stick
these online for viewing in their raw state. Enhancement dt's start
to set in...big time. But for once I am trying to be good. [amazing
but true] Too bad the camera won't follow my example and do what
it is told as well.
Okay, so here we go, bare-nekked and unedited again in Week 3:

I discovered a new skyline view spot today. I had attempted to
sneak on top of reservoir hill, but all accesses were firmly locked
and those fences were pretty high...dern, there *used* to be a way
up there. So I started driving back toward midtown and the path
leads smack dab through the projects. Was on a street that I don't
remember using before, parallel to the main drag when I noticed
a hill and a little park behind the school in the neighborhood.
WOW! What a view. [as long as you don't look over your shoulder
to the crack infested MDHA housing...it's scary over there!] Not
to be stopped, I grabbed my camera, locked everything else in the
trunk and headed up the hill.
These are my attempts at capturing the skyline from this angle.
I was truly longing for a stronger zoom at this point. Normally,
I like *little things* upclose and personal but here I had something
in the distance I wanted to zero in on. Was holding the camera over
my head at times trying to get past the power lines and poles in
the foreground with limited success. I tried framing with trees,
getting depth, keeping the horizon off center. If I decide to do
anything else with these, I will probably crop to a long low rectangle
and clone out things like power poles/lines and small houses. I
am just not really happy with what I have here. They feel *unfinished*
to me.
Oh! And one other note of interest on the little houses visible
in the distance view. Although this is a small house, low income
development just across the hill from a really bad spot, these tiny
houses appeared pristine in lawn and building maintenance. Highly
unusual for this part of town...but I suppose if you have a million
dollar view you might feel good about your home, as well. [me thinks
some developers would kill to grab this magical little block...hang
in residents and enjoy!!! ;-]
